As a holder of a masters degree in German who has used the language professionaly throughout a liftime, I am well aware of the pitfalls that accompany its learning. They are frequently the reason for aban doning the pursuit of its mastery as unending challenges stifle enthusiasim..This book simplifies the bugaboos of sentence, declension, and case to a remarkable degree and in the process provides comprehensibility to the extent of putting the seeminglunattainable within ones immediate grasp. As is ever the case,A time commitment is needed, but rapid progress shold be possible for any student who is willing to spend a relitivly small amount of time when compared to other systems.

Learn to Speak German

by: Elin Seltenheim
German is a main language of Germany, Austria, parts of Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. It is also spoken in the French departement of Alsace (German: Elsass), in the Italian province of Alto Adige (German: Südtirol), parts of Luxembourg, and a small part of Belgium. In America, a form of German is spoken by various groups of Pennsylvania Dutch, and by many families who had ancestors who immigrated to America. The scope of the German language is very far reaching, indeed.

In common with many other European languages, German has two "you" verb forms which denote the relationship the speaker has to someone else.

The Everything Learning German Book: Speak, Write and Understand Basic German in No Time

This was the first book I picked up when I started to learn German. I've found to to be quite an excellent tool for learning German. There are so many programs and books out there for language learning that it's hard to sift through it all & find something worthwhile. This book is definitely worth buying & reading. There are helpful exercises at the end of each section & I believe it to be well structured. But if you want to play it safe you're always likely to find it at your local library. While I very much recommend this book, I must also say that no one book or program is a reliable source on it's own.
